A wide variety of organizations exist to help educate and promote standards for specific industries.  Below are links to many of the organizations with in industries M&M Systems works with.

IIAR - International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration
IIAR is an organization providing advocacy, education, standards, and information for the benefit of the ammonia refrigeration industry worldwide.

RETA - Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association
Founded in 1910 RETA is an international society of individuals and companies involved in the design, operation, and service of industrial refrigeration systems.

IARW - The International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses
IARW promotes more efficient distribution services, aids members in adopting new technology, advises members of legislation and regulations affecting the food industry, assists members in complying with U.S. and international regulations, and participates in alliances with industry and international organizations having a common interest in the safe and efficient flow of food products around the world.

ASHRAE - American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers
ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of 50,000 persons. ASHRAE fulfills its mission of advancing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education.

Garden City Community College
Garden City Community College offers a realistic and effective "hand on" approach to learning the theory and operation of ammonia refrigeration processes.  A wide range of courses and seminars  are designed to conform to OSHA and EPA regulations and industry best practices.

IRC - Industrial Refrigeration Consortium
The Industrial Refrigeration Consortium is a collaborative effort between the University of Wisconsin Madison and industry.  The IRC offers a unique combination of complementary resources that include academic qualifications, technical expertise, and practical experience. IRC provides objective information that is not biased by an affiliation with any particular organization.  

 


Government

Many governmental departments are established to insure standards and safety.  Below are some of the sites that the M&M Systems staff will use and refer to most often.

OSHA - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration
OSHA's mission is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.

NIOSH - The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services.

CCOHS Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety
CCOHS promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing information and advice about occupational health and safety.

EPA - Environmental Protection Agency
The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people.

EC - Environment Canada
Environment Canada's mandate is to preserve and enhance the quality of the natural environment; conserve Canada's renewable resources; conserve and protect Canada's water resources; forecast weather and environmental change; enforce rules relating to boundary waters; and coordinate environmental policies and programs for the federal government.

Energy Star
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
